Ensuring Injured Children Receive the Benefits and Services They Need
If you are the parent of a child who suffered disabling injuries, it's important for you to know that there are many social service resources and government benefits available to help your child and your family.
Often, though not always, medical case management services will be provided by a social worker at the hospital where your child was treated. That social worker can help you access services and benefits for your child.
Clients of the law office of Michels & Watkins have additional resources available to them. They will work with our medical director and staff, who can assist them in accessing the appropriate medical experts and enrolling in available programs.

"Michels & Watkins and their entire staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the entire process of my child’s case. They worked quickly and were able to obtain a favorable result for my child and our family. I am very thankful to have had their team on my side."

If you have questions about what might be available for your child, or have had a hard time getting through the red tape, contact our office. We can help you connect with the right people.
We will also get you connected with a California Regional Center, California Children's Services, or other programs to help you and your child.
California Regional Centers are state-funded organizations that coordinate the delivery of special services to injured children across the state. These services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and access to durable medical equipment and adaptive equipment.
California Children's Services (CCS) is a state program for children under 21 who have certain diseases, physical limitations or chronic health problems and come from limited-income families. CCS helps children and families get needed specialty health care and services, including care management and school-based physical and occupational therapy.
Meeting your child's needs for a lifetime
We want to ensure your child has the medical care and services he or she will need. This kind of long-term planning is new to many families so we help them put systems in place to ensure maximum benefit for their child from any settlement or verdict recovered. That may mean your settlement covers the purchase of a handicapped-accessible home and a van. We often establish a special needs trust fund to ensure all future medical needs and daily care costs will be covered.
